About the Role
As a Software Development Engineer, you will lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of core payroll platform features. You'll work on large-scale distributed systems handling massive data volumes and complex business rules while influencing technical strategy, system architecture, and engineering best practices. This role requires strong ownership, technical excellence, and the ability to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced environment.
A Day in the Life
- Design system architecture using High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD).
- Develop production-quality software following Amazon engineering standards.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architecture discussions.
- Attend Agile stand-ups and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve product quality and customer experience.
- Participate in requirement grooming and feature planning sessions.
- Provide on-call support and maintain production services.
- Monitor system health, investigate customer issues, and ensure operational excellence.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, unit testing, and integration testing of software features and modules.
- Maintain production systems and ensure operational reliability.
- Prepare and review HLDs, LLDs, code, and architectural designs.
- Participate in requirements analysis and feature grooming sessions.
- Continuously improve customer experience and product quality.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
- Develop scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performance distributed applications.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of experience designing or architecting scalable and reliable software systems.
- 3+ years of Video Games industry experience supporting title development, release, or Live Operations.
- Experience programming with at least one modern programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience across the complete software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build systems, testing, deployment, and production operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
